Project STATE: STress-related Alcohol Thoughts and Emotions

Summary: Patterns of alcohol use can emerge in response to various stressful life experiences. Yet, our current understanding of how such reasons for drinking emerge and shift in individuals’ daily lives remains limited. This study aims to understand the emotions and thoughts that influence decisions to drink as individuals go about their daily lives. This information could help improve treatments for individuals who are trying to reduce their alcohol use.

Project STRESS-X: Stress, Life Experiences, and Health among College Students

Summary: College represents a high-risk developmental time for various alcohol consequences, and college drinking often can be tied to stress and related life experiences. The purpose of this study is to better understand common life experiences and stressors among college students, as well as relations with their current health behaviors.
